This sermon message was preached by Evangelist Ebenezer Udofia at Living Faith Apostolic Ministries. It has been adapted from the sermon portion of the video transcript into a detailed blog format for Bible study, Christian discipleship, local ministry outreach, and Google Ad Grants search visibility.
The sermon “Watch Your Lamp” is a direct call to spiritual readiness. Jesus told the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25. Five were wise and five were foolish. All had lamps. All were invited. All appeared to be part of the same moment. But only the wise had enough oil when the bridegroom came.
This message warned believers not to assume that outward association is the same as spiritual preparation. A person can attend church, encourage others, serve in ministry, speak the language of faith, and still fail to watch their own lamp. The question is not only what we are doing publicly. The question is what is happening inwardly.
The preacher asked, “What are you doing with your lamp?” While people protest, debate, help others, carry burdens, and fight for public issues, they must also examine their own hearts. What seeds of hatred, bitterness, pride, unforgiveness, lust, anger, or spiritual neglect are growing inside? The sermon did not discourage helping others. It warned that while giving out, we must also watch what is coming in.
This is especially important for believers who are active in ministry. You can spend so much time watching other people’s lamps that your own reservoir begins to run low. You can preach, serve, encourage, counsel, sing, pray, and still need to examine your own walk with God. Paul warned that after preaching to others, he did not want to become a castaway. That same principle applies to every Christian.
Ephesians 4 gives a practical way to watch the lamp. Put off the old man. Be renewed in the spirit of the mind. Put on the new man, created in righteousness and true holiness. Put away lying. Speak truth. Be angry and sin not. Do not let the sun go down upon wrath. Give no place to the devil. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of the mouth. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit. Put away bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking, and malice. Be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving.
This is not abstract theology. This is daily Christian living.
Matthew 5 says believers are the light of the world. But a lamp must be watched. A light must be maintained. A believer’s life should point people to Jesus Christ, not confuse them about the gospel. Matthew 7 also warns that not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord,” is truly walking in obedience. The sermon challenged those who claim the name of Christ to live like they belong to Him.
For anyone searching for sermons on holiness, Christian readiness, Matthew 25 Bible teaching, Apostolic preaching, or a church in Raleigh that teaches the full counsel of God, this message is essential.
Living Faith Apostolic Ministries calls believers to stay awake spiritually. Do not wait until the door is shut to try to prepare. Do not assume you have more time. Do not depend on someone else’s oil. Watch your own lamp. Keep your heart clean. Stay filled with the Holy Ghost. Walk in love, truth, holiness, and forgiveness.
The bridegroom is coming. Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.
